RCS History
Since our company formed in 1994, RCS has been reaching out to respiratory therapy patients and caregivers by meeting their needs with exceptional customer services and then later high quality respiratory products. RCS entered into long-term care facilities as RCS Subacute, Inc. with the goal of providing respiratory staffing services. By 1998, Congress passed the Balance Budget Act, ending the cost plus system of reimbursement from Medicare, thus eliminating respiratory staffing in long term care facilities. This forced RCS to shift focus from a staffing business to respiratory equipment rental, oxygen services, and respiratory clinical training/education business.
In 2002, RCS added its 500th nursing home facility to our rapidly growing company. Shortly after, RCS acquired Northland Home Care Medical Supply, a home medical equipment (HME) business, based in Flagstaff, Arizona. After the success of this acquisition, RCS decided to acquire Advantage Medical and Oxygen Supply, an HME business based in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
In the years that followed, RCS continued to grow as a company. By 2004, we had added our 700th nursing home facility and one short year later we had over 800 facilities. RCS acquired Phoenix Medical Resources in 2006 and added our 950th nursing home facility.
In 2008, RCS launched project Fresh Air, an integrated billing and equipment inventory tracking system set to improve inventory and billing processes. RCS also opened our RCS Home Care store in Noblesville, IN and added our 1100 nursing home facility.
